I’m sure in your lifetime you’ve pulled your hamstring before, right ?
Β
So this is all about how to look after your hamstrings & lessen your chance of pulling it, as not doing anything, is not the answer, either.
First of all I should tell you how Hamstring injuries can occur, which is in many ways.
Β
The first one would be overstretching!
Β
Β
Other than that, though, the most common are below…
Β
Failed to warm up properly.
Β
Fatigue from physical activity, gone way past your limit.
Β
You’ve taken a knock to your thigh, for example a kick to your thigh, or you crashed into something hard.
Β
You’ve had a hamstring injury before.
Β
Β
Just to make sure you understand, if you have ever had a hamstring injury before you are more likely to have another one in this lifetime, if you do not take the prevention steps I will list later on, there is a three grade system too, so this is really for grade two or grade three, which is a lot worse, of course.
Β
Β
Have a look below!
Β
Β
Grade one = Strain
Β
Grade two = Partial Tear
Β
Grade three = Severe Tear
Now let’s look into ways to look after your hamstring.
Β
I would just like to note that if you are a runner, jumper or a climber, there is always the chance that you can injure your hamstring, you are pushing your hamstrings the most you see, however if you don’t do anything it’s even worse!
Β
This is why I’m saying that the answer is not to do anything, because when you do have to activate one of those task like running, jumping climbing, or a smaller task that has a little of one of those in them in your daily life you will have a higher chance to pull up and be really hurt by it, as you don’t work your hamstrings at all!
Β
Β
So to lessen your chance, you can do the following below…
Β
Warm up, this should be done 10 minutes before you exercise.
Β
Β
If you plan on running, you should really be jogging first to warm up your body, then run.
Β
Β
Take your time when doing your body weight exercises like callisthenics.
Β
Β
Warm down after you’ve done a sporting event. Work on/maintain your strength & conditioning
Β
Have a clean eating lifestyle.
Β
Get a great night’s sleep more often than not.
THAT’S IT!Β
Iβve enjoyed sharing that with you, let me know what you think.
Until next time, ciao π
