This Is What Real Food Freedom Looks Like

Food freedom! I’m hearing about this a lot, so this is my take on what real food freedom looks like, however….

This is not about telling you to feel good about eating junk food, that will never fly around here, as I don’t believe in that deep down in my heart.

I’m also not addicted like most to such trash (That’s a shot at any health pro that still eats junk, btw)

So instead of coming out with the truth, they push it like it’s nothing.

Let me break it down to you in drinking terms…

In this health game I’m sober, if you choose to listen to drunks on your health…

 May God be with you!

So now we got that clear, let’s get down to it.

Food Freedom Is That Not Just The Same As Mindful Eating?

Both words are used interchangeably, but there are levels and differences!

Mindful eating is first of all is rooted in Buddhism, this is things like being present, mindfulness and living with awareness and being intentional etc.

It’s about your senses and them being fully engaged when you’re eating, or just sitting and being content with just being, and doing nothing at all but being present in the moment.

Food freedom is very much the same, but without the Buddhist sprinkle, it’s rooted in weight- inclusiveness & like I was saying before to try and make you feel good about in the now.

Which is good, so long as we are not lying to those who are in poor health via obesity, that they are healthy.

Or you’ve just had open-heart surgery because of your weight, less than 6 months ago, but somehow you’re so healthy & fit, that is not helpful at all.

So long as we are not misleading them, I’m all for it.

Mindful eating also has principles that you must follow, such as….

Saying no to diet culture, respecting your body & making peace with what you eat etc.

Food freedom principles chops and changes, as it’s meaning changes upon whom you speak to in many ways, so watch who you’re speaking to about food freedom.

What It’s rooted in though would be intuitive eating, which can be so dangerous to those that eat recklessly to start with!

Losing weight without getting a disorder AKA intentional weight loss, increased flexibility with what you eat etc.

The chief aim of food freedom for them is to remove all guilt, shame and negative emotion from eating unhealthy trash.

That’s where food freedom loses me, when we start going down this road we are out-and-out lying, just to make you feel good.

You feel these emo for a reason, even outside the media pressure, you know those foods are no good.

The same pressure you would feel if you knocked someone down in a car, or you killed someone…

Now imagine if they told you… Oh, don’t worry, don’t feel guilty, you took a life, but it’s okay.

Let’s be real here, it’s junk food that makes you gain the weight we don’t want, and it’s that first that gets you sick, and thinking you did wrong vs fruit and veg.

If somebody can tell me they did not eat any junk food prior and then got ED off just eating fruit and veg alone, I would love to hear it, as I’ve yet to come across it.

Food Freedom For The Sick

I like that fact that it’s a term that is not rigid and is helpful to a variety of people.

This is great for those that have eating disorders & chronic mental illness as you can work on their relationship with food, in a way in which is not old-fashioned & not helpful to them.

Instead of looking for positive approval from others, over time they give it to themselves as their confidence in food goes up, that I really love.

Also, it will prevent others from getting to the point where they end up with an eating disorder it’s a lane that can be closed, even though it’s not the only way to get it, it would show some progress in an industry where it’s been long overdue, to see some sort of change for the better!

Taking advantage of the vulnerable is never okay, even more disgusting is doing it for profit.

If you still have a heart & a soul, you will know that via misleading others they can lose their lives or take their own.

If you know someone that is sick via an eating disorder, protect them as best you can…

There are many wolves, just looking for the dollar & with no regard for your health, or the person for that matter.

This is why you should seek pro’s as the risk is much lower, and they on the most part know what the hell they’re talking about.

This Is What It Looks Like

You’re not sitting there counting calories, you’re not forcing yourself to eat food or to regurgitate food.

You’re seeing fast food as junk & food as all things that are healthy for you.

You’re not taking diet pills, or looking for quick ways to get to your ideal.

You’re willing to see that this is a step-by-step process & not something that will just happen overnight.

You will see that anyone trying to tell you otherwise does not care about you at all.

You will take no part in the diet culture, as they’re short term fixes that do not last.

You will choose lifestyle change over yo-yo dieting and the latest fad.

You will seek out Nutritionist, Dietitians (COUGH) & certified pro’s that know how to deal with all of this with their eyes shut, V taking advice from a damn builder at number 10 Crossly road (Sorry if that’s a real house address, it just came to mind!)

You will stop taking sugar coats from those that are telling you food is not good or bad…

Well, we know that, but junk is junk, really it’s not food.  If you fight against that you will lose in the end, your body agrees with me.

You will see that you can still get pleasure, energy & nourishment from eating actual food, then processed junk /experiments gone wrong in a lab, that they feed the rats with.

You will become better at knowing when you are full, when you are hungry before your belly rumbles, when to hydrate etc.

You will see you are on another level, day by day, the healthier you are, the better you become…

It will downpour into everything that you do.

I’m living proof of that!

THAT’S IT!

I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys.

Please do let me know though…

It’s really good how you explained this, as I was really confused by it all. I don’t want to feel good only but then do bad, i want to feel and know that what I’m doing is healthy. This why I loved what you had to say.
