You asked for it, so I made this for my Di1’s that want to know all about pescetarianism.
You also wanted to know what the difference between this & being a vegetarian is, so I’m going to break it down & answer the difference question below.
What Is Pescetarianism ?
It’s someone who chooses to eat fish & seafood.
They don’t want to be eating meat and poultry, and feel that they should cut it out.
From what I’ve been reading from you guy’s, a lot of you seem to think it’s about only eating what’s under the sea, and it’s not.
Pescatarians have zero issue with vegetables, and will eat them like nothing.
Many pescatarians eat dairy and eggs though, if they don’t that’s not really pescetarianism, that’s Vegan.
So it’s mostly fish & seafood that they eat, with veggies… A vegetarian eats way more veg, the clue is in the name!
Also unlike pescatarians, vegetarians don’t eat animal flesh at all.
Now they are some grey areas, with this but all in all I believe that most Vegetrians would agree with that.
Those that don’t again, just like those doctors who say how a alcohol, AKA a deadly poison is good for you, all because they cannot shake the addiction themselves… Check your local doctor for the shakes LMAO!
Are They Really Healthy Then?
Some are, some are not… It all depends.
Just like any of these eating styles, that’s the base of what they eat, fish, right?
Let’s say vegetarians it’s fish right?
Both can choose to eat meatless meat too, that fake ishhh, but you normally find that’s filled with starches, also it does not stop them from eating junk!
So don’t get amazed if someone tells you they are either one of these, always follow up with, what do you eat on the side, AKA their snacks and food in-between meals….
You see this is where it’s a gain or a loss, if it’s filled with fish fingers, gluten muffins, fizzy drinks etc..
Then they’re not healthy. These two eating styles have plenty of obese ones, and those foods on the side are one of the reasons.
I Want To Be A Healthy Pescatarian So What Do I Eat?
The emails I get really help with the titles (THANKS!)
Ok, Pescatarians eat…
All fruits, vegetables, fish & seafood (Obs), eggs, seeds, chia, nuts, whole grains, legumes, beans, lentils, tofu etc.
Dairy products, yoghurt, milk and cheese.
What Pescatarians don’t eat is…
Meat! Chicken, pork, beef, lamb etc I know that helps!
What Are The Cons Of Eating Like This?
Well, one of the main things is the whole fish thing in itself.
What I mean is you are more prone to be eating a high level of fish.
Fish, especially big fish, contain mercury and other toxic ishh due to us humans.
This is why young children and women who are pregnant should avoid fish such as…
King mackerel, swordfish & tilefish at all cost.
To be honest even tuna and salmon, it’s well known to only be eating like once or twice a week, when you’re a young child or a pregnant women, but is that not telling you something ?
I would advise all fish and seafood to not be eaten, just in case it causes complications to your child or baby, but of course that choice is up to you.
Lastly, just like the vegetarians, you are prone to overeating on carbs, as normally, they tend to eat grains that are processed.
That’s white rice, bread etc, those that go for wholewheat and eat brown rice, bread, will for sure be in a better place body wise.
The white grains are low in nutrients, it’s better than fast food take-outs, but If mediocre health is what you’re looking for go ahead, I may have mistaken you for wanting greatness inside you!
What Are Your Overall Thoughts On Pescatarians ?
I mean to each their own!
I’m not the health police, I’m just The Healthy One!
I will however give my thoughts on pescetarianism.
Pescatarianism done right can be healthy.
I would say 6.9 or 7.5 out of ten, as I’m looking at it from a birds eye few, from everyone that has done it,
lasted, not lasted, what they normally do and don’t do…
I find most don’t stick with it and jump to something else.
I also find that there is a lot of stomach issues later on in life, I’m talking between 63 and 81.
This is more open than just eating veg, and will give you more nutrition than a vegetarian.
So as long as you eat more plant based and eat your fish, but just don’t over eat on it during the week.
It is a healthy choice, done right with no cut corners it could so easy rise to an 8.
THAT’S IT!
I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys.
Please do let me know though…
