As promised in Bright Sweets & Dart Frogs Ewww! (Read Here) I’m here to break down the supermarket games being played and using you as the pawn.
I know a lot about UK stores, so this will be my base, but this info applies to many other countries too & is evergreen knowledge & you’ll never walk into the supermarket the same again!
Millions are at stake here, that’s the investment they have been investing into figuring out how to get you to buy more of things at all cost, to get that money back and more.
So let’s see how they run game on us!
When you enter any shop of course you want it to look appealing, so potential customers walk in.
I have 0 things wrong with that, but when you are strategically placing items that are no good for us, to tempt your customers into impulse buys via placing the brightly coloured sweets at the front of the till, knowing well that when children see them, they will keep nagging their parents to buy them some…
That is where the issue lies & is wrong at every level, you know I’ve been doing some research, and 83 percent of parents have been reported to have been nagging their parents to purchase junk food at tills in the supermarket.
75 percent have been reported to have given in and bought them the junk, I’m sure it’s even higher than that, but that’s what I found.
Essential items now that the average person goes in for like water, milk and bread OMG… You could only want one of those things like say bread, then you end up with bags of foods, why?
Most supermarkets put their essential foods as far away from the entrance as possible, so you are forced to pass through the special deals and offers and reduced prices first.
They hide eggs on purpose in the store too, as more time spent in the supermarket equals more time to spend money. Talking of the special offers, more often than not they are placed at the end of aisles as this has the most visibility.
These bargains are the lifeless Del boy that haunt you into purchasing mostly rubbish that is no bargain at all!
It’s like you see it like this 9.99 > 10 LMAO! NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, It’s still 10!
Or even worse something for like a pound, but it’s sell by date has passed or going to in like a day pffft!
If you can afford not to, why are you doing this?
To me that is a disease in itself LOL, I’m not risking getting no belly ache or worse for no 1 pound deal when the item has expired or a day from it.
Then you’ve got the fruit and veg section, they are always at the front of a supermarket, but of course some don’t.
Now raised eyebrows have to be made because why all of a sudden in a world where fast food is being pushed, why now is the real food being put in the front?
Surely this would make them lose money, right?
They do this because buying healthy foods from the jump, will put shoppers guilt at ease and raise their mood and make them feel happy, or they did something as they have some carrots and apples in their cart, lol…
When in reality as they go on the rest of the cart is filled with junk food, also from the standpoint of the fruit and veg itself it’s not good to put it at the front as the fruits are likely to get bruised, but hey fruits and veg do not matter to them… You buying them, does.
Also, if you look around, you can see more and more the encouragement of multi-buys.
Example being 4 pounds for 2 pies, but priced individually at 2 pounds…
It doesn’t take a maths genius to know that is no bargain at all, so what they do is the individual pie would go up to 3 pounds, so you end up thinking that you are getting a great deal…
When in reality they bumped themselves knowing that no one will buy just one off that and will go for their scam.
Prepare Or Prepare To Fail
There are things such as music, smell & taste, but only the later I would really have issue with, and that would depend on what it was they were giving you to eat in the first place.
The point being when you are going shopping for the month, or the week, you need a list… point, blank period!
Just like in life, if you don’t know what it is that you want, someone else will dictate what that is for you.
The… I don’t know does not cut it, you are around wolves in sheep’s clothing, they want every pound/dollar they can get.
If you know what you want, and you’ve been doing that, and it’s working for you, it’s very hard to convince someone to change that you feel me?
I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys.
Please do let me know though…
