For me itβs not really ever been about the public knowing what they are eating thatβs obvious, itβs always been about what is inside of what you are eating..

& why the manufactures found the need to hide the information away from us in the first place.
Labels in the olden days were absolute rubbish, then fast-forward to the last decade were better but were hiding a lot of information from the customers, but there has been some change this year as you may of notice now the calories are so much bigger in font and bold.Β

The serving size is more visible than ever before and reflects better to per serving that people actually eat!
Companies are now required to separate added sugars from natural sugars on the labels.

This is wonderful news because unless you went into deep study you would not know what part of the sugar is natural and what was just added sugar.
From reading & watching as many videos and articles as I could for yβall the overall feel from the other experts are that this can help people eat less, and lose weight.
The issue I have with this is yes it could be very well true, but these same experts need to teaching people how to read the label or at least encouraging people to read labels.. when youβve worked with so many people like I have in health or you just observe people in the shop, you really notice how the back of the label is totally ignored, so it will not make no difference if we donβt encourage people to do so.
We cannot go in blind on this and just pick up whatever always look at the back of the label, even down to the food and drink you buy all the time, because what youβll find is that every so often they switch it up a little bit, rather than just eating it or drinking it and then spitting it out saying..
βERR WHAT THE β¦. IS THAT!β
Itβs best to check, if we just slow down just a little bit and stop rushing we can do this, and itβs something I will be pushing more in my content.. and of course anyone that has ever been on one of my programs know how to read the labels, not just the basics but at an advance level as these companies for years have never played fair and taking us for jokes.

Now this is not for every food item, for instance Seafood & Raw Fruit & Veg are exempt from the requirements from the Food & Drug Administration AKA the FDA.
I donβt have too much concern about this right about now as at least the food there are real, but would push them to put a label on the Seafood ASAP.
What is disappointing is the packaged food items that require additional ingredients, such as cereal that needs some kind of milk in it for you to eat.
Especially with very bright coloured cereals that are very sweet I call them βPoisonous Frogsβ if people actually knew how much sugar was in it, I think we would see a massive drop, as people are looking to take in less sugar, but hey you shouldnβt be eating that kind of cereal anyway itβs trash!

Iβm sure most of my readers donβt, you newbieβs that still do.. youβll soon drop the habit!
I also read that the experts believe that it will help with portion control, I donβt really agree with it because it all depends on the person.
If you are prone to pouring more or adding more you will, if you have ED (Eating Disorder) you will tend to eat much less the what is recommended, Iβm in the camp of the person must be armed with knowledge and wisdom and have some form of goal, because most people donβt care about what the label says for that if we are being honest.
Now talking of ED which in the UK has 1.25Millon & the USA 30Million sufferers, I can see the carers feeling worried and stressed out that this might trigger them, but I should remind you typically speaking people with ED tend to have the numbers already in their heads.Β

So itβs your responsibility to keep a cool head and I hope the back of the label gives you more clarity than the old ones ever did, to be able to sooth them when they are getting stressed out about their calorie counts.
So overall I do believe that this is good news and although will stay have a long way to go to get all the way 100 with what is actually on the back of the label, this is a positive step in the right direction and long may it continue.
The label Is so much easierΒ to read now, so if itβs put you off before in the past, try again!!!
