My Reaction To Corporate Wellness Magazine’s How To Encourage Healthy Eating In The Workplace

I’m going to be reacting to the Corporate Wellness magazine article, on how to encourage healthy eating in the workplace, & they’re saying it’s them that wrote this & not an author by name..

So let’s go threw it & I’ll react to what has been said.

As professionals, we all strive to achieve success in our careers.

However, with busy schedules, high-stress environments, and a fast-paced work-life, it can be challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Making healthy food choices is an essential part of maintaining good health and well-being.

But, how do we encourage healthy eating habits in the workplace?

Provide Healthy Food Options

Providing healthy food options is an effective way to encourage healthy eating habits in the workplace.

Stock up on healthy snacks like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole-grain crackers.

Consider providing healthy breakfast options such as low-fat yogurt, oatmeal, and whole-grain bread for toast. Ensure that there are healthy meal options available in the cafeteria or at local restaurants.

Yes of course, If your workplace has healthy food there, it will be more likely that they eat and then another sees and follows suit, then they all start copying.

Crackers being healthy though (Skip that)

If it’s low in fat the yoghurt then it’s going to be high in sugar, so always check the label & I would avoid buying food that has it in bold ‘LOW IN FAT’ as it’s 9/10 got extra sugar in it & it’s a cover-up to make it look good, as if it’s healthy, real healthy yoghurts do not have to say low in anything, you just look at the back and the grams are low, you understand?

Organize Healthy Potlucks and Cooking Demonstrations

‍Organizing healthy potlucks and cooking demonstrations can be an excellent way to encourage healthy eating in the workplace.

A healthy potluck could be a fun way for employees to share their favorite healthy recipes with colleagues.

Organizing cooking demonstrations could be an opportunity for employees to learn new healthy recipes and cooking techniques.

I love this idea, this is a great way to encourage healthy eating!

I was not expecting that one at all (Cheesy grin right now on my face)

I would even go as far as to say, you’ll look like the odd one out if the number 1 & number 2 was going on all the time, like it’s the norm & you walk in with fast food lool, how cool would that be?!

Offer Nutritional Education and Counselling

‍Offering nutritional education and counselling can help employees make informed decisions about their food choices.

Consider bringing in a registered dietitian to provide educational seminars or offer individual consultations.

A dietitian can help employees create personalized meal plans and provide guidance on healthy eating habits.

Again a smart move, it ensures those that are struggling, can catch up, those that want to learn more can, some will even go to the point of learning for themselves, I think it should be mandatory, that would be my only thing, as most off the bat would decline and then run to grab a krispy cream!

Encourage Meal Prep and Healthy Eating Challenges

‍Meal prep can help employees save time and money and promote healthier eating habits.

Encourage employees to plan their meals in advance and prepare healthy meals to bring to work.

To make it more engaging, consider organizing a healthy eating challenge.

For instance, you could encourage employees to eat a certain number of servings of fruits and vegetables each day and track their progress.

I’m loving the suggestions here, damn! Yes, yes, yessssssssssss!

This is going the extra mile now, if most of them are into it, this can work, but the steps would have to be done & in the long run for this to work, as it’s off their own back, so long as the steps above are done, this should work like a charm.

Create a Supportive Environment

‍Creating a supportive environment can be an effective way to encourage healthy eating habits in the workplace.

Encourage employees to take breaks to stretch, walk, or do other physical activities.

Offer standing desks to promote better posture and health. You could also organize wellness walks and group exercise sessions to encourage physical activity.

I think making the workplace healthy, like the standing desks just being there, (Of course have options in case there is a reason why they cannot stand) but yeah, it’s just the norm for you when you have breaks for everyone to stretch, and go for walks at a certain time, to the point where they do this off their own back!

These are really good ideas here.

Lead by Example

‍Management can play a crucial role in promoting healthy eating habits in the workplace.

Managers can set an example for employees to follow by modelling healthy habits.

Encourage managers to take breaks to eat healthy snacks, participate in wellness challenges, and promote healthy eating habits to their teams.

This is very true, management must align with the principles that the company has outlined above for its staff. They should be leading the way (Mangers) in all of this, so they are right!

If you see your the top of the food chain doing all of this, you are going to follow suit too, it can breed healthy results, again you’re going to look odd if you’re the only one not doing it, so you are who you surround yourself with as they say aha.

Measure and Evaluate

‍Finally, it is essential to measure and evaluate the success of your workplace wellness program.

Analyse data from employee surveys, health screenings, and other metrics to assess the effectiveness of your program.

Use the information to make changes and improvements to your program to ensure that you are meeting the needs of your employees.

Promoting healthy eating habits in the workplace is essential for employee health and wellness.

By providing healthy food options, organizing healthy potlucks and cooking demonstrations, offering nutritional education and counselling, encouraging meal prep and healthy eating challenges, creating a supportive environment.

Leading by example, and measuring and evaluating the success of your program, you can create a culture of health and wellness in your workplace.

With the help of Global Healthcare.

I mean it’s all true, there is nothing more for me to add, this was great all across the board & I’m glad I saw this…

My only hope for any company is that they can do this in real life, your team is vital & if they set things up in a healthy way, you will fly for much longer.

THAT’S IT!

I’ve enjoyed sharing that with you, let me know what you think.

Until next time, ciao 🙂
