My Exp With Kneecaps
I’m very much into how the human body works in certain aspects, one of them being the knee, especially when it comes to sports.
I first got into how the knees work when around the time, ex spurs player and now (At the time of doing this) one of the coaches at spurs ledley’s King had problems with his ones.
To cut a long story short about what happened to his kneecaps,all of Ledley’s football training over the years had caught up with him.
This is mainly the jumping, gym work and tackles going in full throttle, as you have to do as a great defender, which Ledley was as a player.

I then saw Carlos Puyol an Ex Barca player have to leave football all together because of a similar issue with his knees, and he was a rough and tumble defender, so it was of no shock.
Then of course as I got older and started coaching you Di1’s over the years myself, I saw the same thing…
With them, coming to me with bad knees and how to look after them, or I saw them doing something with their knees that would lead them to having bad knees.

That’s anything from a tear to what happened with ledley, Carlos & my Di1’s I got to work with… Which was a bad case of osteoarthritis, which equalsΒ server pain.
Something To Think About
Even if you do everything right, you can still hurt your knee, accidents happen.
Age happens to, which leads to osteoarthritis, if you do not look after your knees. Β
As you know, extreme sports increases your chance of hurting your knee and messing it up for life.

Snowboarding, skiing, gymnastics to team sports such as rugby, football, American football… Some via the landing you make from the jump & others from being tackled, it’s the risk we all know that do these kinds of sports.
A lot of us hurt it when lifting weights and the weight is too heavy, or bad form.
Even without using weights you can be just working free weights and hurt them, so just a some advice when you are doing your leg workouts, keep your knees in mind, when you go so hard and it’s hurting your knees.
So everything you do should work your legs, but it should not be at the expense of your knees.
Even sprinting, from sprinters that I heard from, the leg work they do is intense and they go so hard on their knees that it just hurts them later on when just walking around, so you’ve just got to know that if you do workouts that put stress on your knees it is going to ruin them.
If you do it smart and work with your knees and not just against them, you’ll work them and not break them…
Even thoughΒ we work out we destroy ourselves, so we can rebuild after we replenish and get sleep, that’s just the price we pay for the work we put in you know, but we can still do that and not break our knees, so it’s not able to work right you feel me?

Obese Ones
If you’re obese it’s going to affect you too, as you’re putting too much weight on your body which hits your knees and destroys your meniscus, that’s the C shape cartilage that’s on your knee & leaves you in so much pain, or even not able to walk.
So it’s a big reason to lose weight, as anyone that is obese will tell you that has knee pain.

How To Prevent Your Knees Going?
Keep Yourself At A Healthy Weight!
As I said, excess weight is not good for your joints, and leaves you susceptible to injuries or chronic knee pain… Which could leave you with Osteoarthritis.
Β Wear shoes that are comfy for you
The more you wear high heels, or shoes that are not for working out or running, the higher chance for you to mess up your knees.
It’s worth investing in the correct shoes, if not for your knees then your ankle, to save an ankle rule.

Β Switch Up Your Workouts
It’s not just about going to the gym and doing workouts that mess up your knees all the time, if at all.
You can swim or go walking, this puts less impact on your knee, you can still get your cardio you know.
Let’s play smarter and still have fun too.

Keep Stretching
You should be stretching every day, in case you pull something or hurt your knee.
Work on your hamstrings, calves, quads and focus less on putting pressure on your knees when you work out.

Wear Knee Guards!
It lit does what it says it helps if you are in a sport where you keep on falling like
skateboarding, biking, even rugby… It prevents fractures and really hurting your knees then without it.
Don’t Overtrain
It’s important to know when to stop working out.
This is how a lot of us do are knees in, if you overtrain it may feel good in the moment, but what about later on?
You’re setting yourself up for injury & what you love doing being cut short as your knees are gone, and you don’t want that.

I’ve hurt my ACL 4 times so far, I do a lot of winter sports.

Do ice baths help ?
When the knee is already gone no. I’m talking about damaged severely or torn that’s surgery procedure.
If you have worked out and are tired it helps with recovery or a little swelling but when it comes to major injury
it wont do nothing for you.
