Get Your Workout Done Way Before Bed!

I find that if you are looking to get to bed early/ want a great night’s sleep, working out 2 hours before bed really sucks!

Exercising earlier during the evening leads to better quality sleep, if you must workout then.

Even better in the morning & afternoon, high intensity workouts trigger physiological changes and delay your sleepiness…

You’ve really shaken your body up, and told it to not sleep, as you’ve just had a high adrenaline rush… Which is no good for us to get to sleep, so below I’m going through it with you.

Quality Street

Nobody is saying you cannot go running in the evening time, it’s just not good, as I said for you to get quality sleep if it’s close to your bedtime.

Anything less than 2 hours, you’ll get next to no sleep… 2 hours really is the limit and again the sleep will really suck.

If you are struggling to sleep, going for a run or cycling are very good to send you into a deep sleep, just know if you like that REM sleep which is link to dreaming then, you won’t be able to do so as you have worked out so close to bedtime.

Why Does The Time Even Matter ?

It’s more to do with the light, when it gets darker your body adjusts to getting ready to wind down.

It’s like a fight or flight mode, if you choose flight in the night…

It’s going to be harder to fall asleep as your body as been shocked into flight mode, think about it your heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate etc….

Your mind is racing it makes sense right ?

Even 3 hours before bed can create a problem for falling asleep as your arousal is increased, body temperature, stress and mind is processing it all.

This can cause you to stay up later and wake up later too, as your melatonin release is delayed, that’s the hormone of course that triggers nighttime sleepiness.

What Is The Best Time For Exercise ?

If you want to workout in the evening time & get quality sleep, then workout early in the evening, for the best sleep results.

There is no real one time fits all, and I would push you all to trail for yourself the time that suits you best.

It’s your body and your body will respond in another way to the next man, woman or child you know.

I just know that for a lot of you that working out, so close to your bedtime is doing more harm than good,
also drinking tea, coffee, beer, wine etc using your phone on the blue light will make it harder too.

So do all you can, and I really hope your sleep can improve after you’ve worked out.

THAT’S IT!

I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys. Please do let me know though…
