You can find many canned, cooked, frozen foods that are healthy for you, so please don’t think I’m talking about those It’s more so highly processed foods loaded with salt, sugar and additives/preservatives only!
If you want your health to increase you must stop eating so much of the highly processed foods, this is one of the first things that helps you on your way to becoming truly healthy.
So below are some evergreen strategies you can use and pass down to family or friends to help you eat less processed foods.
Drink More Water
Our body is made up of it, so it’s best we fuel ourselves with it too & this for sure should be your go-to drink.
Sugary drinks such as fizzy drinks, fruit juice, sports drinks are very high in sugar and calories and very low in essential nutrients.
If water is too plain for you, add some juice into it to flavor it, but do drink it for your own sake.
I don’t know how many times I’ve seen or heard those that want to hydrate themselves choose those drinks above or worse! to try and do the job… It never ends well, water is the way.
Meal Prepping
I did say I was going to come back to that, and now we are here!
Preparing meals the day before or once or twice a week can really help you have plenty of nutritious meals ready in your fridge or freezer for those times where you are too busy/away to cook.
It will give you the peace of mind that you’ve been looking for, and you won’t have to rush or feel stressed about what to eat any more… Which means you can make a calmer and healthier choice, and not just a fast out take.
Eat More Vegetables
When you’re making your meals at home, make sure you add vegetables to it.
The more vegetables we include in our meals the better, they’re very nutritious and are packed with fiber, and that always keeps you fuller for longer.
Change Your Shopping Routine
This can be a hard habit to break, but when you have too much processed food on deck, it’s a must.
The next time you go to the store, fill up your cart with healthy food like fruits, vegetables & whole grains etc.
I find it best to make a list of the food and drink that you need, and then when you are in the store, zone out and just focus on your list.
Doing it off the cuff is very hard for most, and you’re more likely to buy things you never had in mind or need you know.
Make The Changes Slowly
There is no rush to do everything right away when it comes to getting rid of your processed foods.
You need to take your time, and make sure the changes stick… rather than going for it all and it overwhelming you.
Lifestyle changes always take time to adjust to, so they become habits, it will get easier over time, trust me… Just don’t fold!
You should be trying to add one or two of the strategies that I’ve given you, then when it sticks, you add more.
