Fall In Love With Fruit & Veg

Everybody knows that we are supposed to be eating fruits and vegetables. However this knowledge has not lead to very smart decisions by the masses.

Let’s take America for example since the year 2012 the percent of Americans that don’t meet the U.S department of Agriculture’s RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) has only increased by 1 percent!  That to me is absolutely disgraceful how many L’s can this country take lol, but this is not just an American affair the UK also too have a low percentage and many other countries across the globe.

The question is are you one them? And what are you going to do about it? As much as fruit & veg are not really deemed as cool nor fashionable, it’s healthy and will give you a better quality of life for much longer too.

What I notice is it’s the attitude towards eating them which is the biggest stumbling block. I know everyone reading this will have an improvement with their intake of Fruit & Veg  if they fall in love with the process and doing so with an open mind.

Excuses Out Of The Way First

It’s not very difficult to get your five a day, it only is if you don’t do it / not very often.. it’s just about desire and consistency and for that this will help you (CLICK HERE)

Next up is the price, and I just have to laugh at this one; “it’s too expensive!”

Really? The average shopper spends more on Chocolates, Crisps, sweets and other such trash in a week than a person who buys from the Fruit and Veg section/stall.

That’s because Fruit and Veg is typically bought in bulk whereas Chocolates, Crisps and sweets are mostly bought on a daily basis with erratic and unpredictable amounts spent per week.

Don’t get me wrong could it be cheaper? YES.. Should it be cheaper.. YES but even at its current price it not going to leave families in financial ruin, what will is spending money you don’t have on the latest Jordans or  Gucci sweaters or getting a loan so you can buy  the latest Jimmy Choo high heeled shoes.

It’s all about priority and the world we live in today does not push eating Fruit & Veg forward via action.. it’s  known as learning your  A,B, C’s but if  you still think you can get away with it then.. you’ll be the one who suffers in the end and for sure sooner than you think.

Lastly I even hear the government’s being blamed, and yes they can do a hell of a lot more on this issue because they don’t do enough to put any system or schemes in place to encourage or help people get their five a day.. well unless you’re like under 12 (Teens & Adults still need it too). They seem more passionate about blowing up countries, and not a care about you throwing up from the night before in A&E  because of dodgy trash from the bin or poison drinks they call liquor.

Don’t  Forget The Vegetables

What tends to happen when we attempt to start eating healthier is we go to the store and think “What should I buy Fruit or Veg?”, and 9 times out of 10 will go for the Fruit and not get the vegetables or just a small amount of vegetables.

So instead, work on being more mindful of grabbing your Vegetables, that with your ‘already on point’ focus on the Fruit is a recipe to succeed at this.

Struggling to think of Vegetables to go out and buy? Here are some of the best (CLICK HERE)  Remember it’s about you getting in the groove of eating Vegetables on a daily basis..not never/ once a month, the most important thing is that you start.. then you’ll be ahead of everyone who is not even trying.

The Present Helps

You’re not a 5 year old anymore so you must evolve and get rid of all the memories of your bad experiences with eating your Fruit & Veg from back in the day. It could also be  because you just don’t like the taste of  some of them.. but that’s the thing “Some of them” does not equal “All of them” That’s just ignorance and I don’t buy that for a second.

No one is saying that you  must stay seated and finish off your Sprouts, stop looking back, right now in the present the biggest gift you can give yourself is to find out what Fruit & Veg you actually do like and go eat that. Excuses are lame and only a loser would hide behind them, I know that is not you! It’s time to be present and boss up right now on our intake of Fruit & Veg.

Taste Better, Feel Better

Another problem surrounding the taste of Fruit & Veg is the bitterness of some of them. Our taste buds can very easily detect the bitterness and they help us detect toxins and poisons.

Who really wants to taste something that is so bitter right? This is the same reason people sweeten Coffee with sugar or milk.. to get rid of the bitter taste. I found out that 25 percent of people are actually severely sensitive to bitterness and really can’t stand it.. I’m sure you know someone.

So what do we do? What is the opposite of Bitter?.. Sweet so adding foods that are sweet will help you out. Now don’t get it twisted, I’m not saying you add Sugar or maple syrup that would be stupid! But what I do recommend is you use Pineapple, Raisin, melted peanut butter, many spices and Cheeses will make it more appealing to eat.

Of course in the long run you’ll be encouraged to eat more Fruit & Veg and because of the health benefits you’ll feel better too.

It’s Been Proven Already

If you’re still feeling doubtful or like it’s not possible I’ve got some news to break to you.. It’s already been done, take South Korea for example; in their culture just like Japan, China and Thailand they are besotted with Fruit & veg which has hit all the way through all their sectors and society.

A South Korean meal is not finished unless it has some sort of Fruit & Veg in it, that’s anything from Cabbage to  Kyoho (Grapes)  and in their rural areas as many as 400  different types of  Fruits & Veg  are eaten with love.

The local government in South Korea is working tirelessly to preserve this as the norm for them to be eating this way by promoting delicious dishes, which is also a huge help as they often show a more positive side to the locally grown Fruit & Vegetables.

Can This Love Really Be Replicated?

Maybe, just maybe, the level of Fruit & Veg- love cannot be replicated like it is in those Asian countries. But it’s possible over time the love will be different.. but there’s nothing wrong with that so long as the love is there.

There are positives with the American and UK eating of Fruit & Veg, if you look at the figures,  sales of foods such as Oranges, Kale and Cauliflower  have risen because slowly but surely people are waking up and looking to attempt to become more health conscious.

THAT’S IT!

I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys.  Please do let me know though…

I agree with you Karim it’s being done else where so it can also be done here, less money spent on war and more on nutritious food for us and the poor.

Nice article bro! I can afford fruit and vegetables every week, it’s just I feel ripped off about the prices. It’s something I’ll work on because I understand I’m the one losing out, but that was my reason.
