Drinks That Set Your Brain Up For Failure

This is about helping you, to not get Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia!

This does not need to be your fate, the research tells us that a healthy lifestyle, which includes what you eat or drink, lower your chances right ?

Like the title says it’s about the drink though, last year in the U.S for example 6.5 million Americans have been reported to be living with Alzheimer’s and rates are expected to go up, this is a place where drink is rampant & done for every little thing, as you can see it adds up!

So I’m going to go through the drinks that are setting your brain up for failure, so you can make the adjustments.

Sugary Drinks

I’m talking about fizzy drinks, fruit flavoured drinks, sports energy drinks etc, sugar is detrimental to your brain, it’s linked to metabolic conditions like cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, stroke, inflammations & type 2 diabetes.

From reading many Alzheimer’s prevention books, many of the authors state that, most sugar-sweetened drinks were about three times more likely to suffer from dementia, and with my own studies, I find that it’s triple that in modern times!

Those that drink sugary drinks once per day, are prone to having poorer memory & smaller overall brain volume, and a smaller hippocampus that is not a breed of hippo, it’s the area of the brain that is linked to memory and learning.

Did you know that one fizzy drink can is 150 calories of sugar ?

That’s 37 grams over your daily recommend allowance for an entire day! Those that are selling you these products know this too, yet they sell it anyway to turn a profit and keep you sick & addicted to their product.

Alcohol

This one is a no-brainer, it’s a poison & has a long history with giving Alzheimer’s & other forms of dementia, it does not get any worse when we are talking about drinking, then this!

If you care about your brain health, and what comes with this later on in life..

Heck, the effects are already happening to those of you that are drinking regularly, it’s just it’s in the inside, you will brush it off when you keep forgetting things and as you get older it will get you, and you would have forgotten of course all about when it started (The irony)

You don’t come out of the game of drinking, a winner, whether it’s your brain health or not, you’ll get something you don’t want so, I’m not wasting any more of my energy talking about alcohol!

You know it’s bad, if you carry on.. That’s on you.

Sweet Coffee

I don’t like Coffee at all, and those that drink it use it as a crutch as they don’t sleep/don’t sleep very well.

However, just like tea drinkers with no sugar can be good for antioxidants, but this is not the case for many of you Coffee drinkers as you tend to be drinking it with sugar in it.

Flavoured lattes frappes & mochas can be at times packed with the same amount of sugar as a small bottle of coke!

I learned from a Di1 that Starbucks sells 16-ounce toasted white chocolate mocha Frappuccino, that’s like 388 to 420 calories (Without checking) I know it’s around that mark, which is hella high & unhealthy.

They also have 64 grams of sugar I was told, so that’s 16 teaspoons of sugar, not good for our brains at all, we can do better than this.

Sports Drinks

Sports drinks such as Lucozade, Gatorade, Powerade etc are meant to be used as a sugar rush for sports only.

It’s been sold like it’s an everyday drink, to make a profit, and it’s killing you slow in the process, as many are drinking it on their sofa lol.

Like I said to you before, sugar is detrimental to your brain health, when I say that I’m talking about added sugar.. So that’s anything that they or you add more sugar too, that was not their to start with.

The thing that makes me sick, is that this is marketed as it’s healthier than fizzy drinks, when the reality they know this is only for top athletes, most of you are not running marathons, sprinting, playing football 7 days a week, climbing up Mountains etc.

Even though you should know, water is and will always be king of the drinks, it’s part of what our body is made up of, and these comps are tryng to pull you away from that, to again make profit and leave you unwell.

If I focus on Gatorade for example who are annoying and keep coming up on Barça adds of late, the drink is 140 calories an 34 grams of sugar, that is 8.5 teaspoons you know…

That’s all the sugar an adult should have in a day, if there was a limit or a cap, these sports drinks, are not only bad for your brain, but weight gain too, type 2 diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases, so as I said water is king.

Caffeinated Energy Drinks

Red Bull gives you wings, right ?

They are telling you, they will take you to the skies & you’re still drinking it.

Kevin Samuels R.I.P. springs to my mind when I think about caffeinated energy drinks, as he used to drink a lot of Red bull and mix it with Alcohol (Not a good combo) .

Also, the other drinks like Rockstar & Monster are caffeinated energy drinks, that they claim were made for extreme athletes (Climbing up a mountain) or an overworked uni student trying to go vamp & stay up the whole night, studying or watching blue movies (YIKES!)

This has no benefits to your brain health, due to the high sugar in them, a 12 ounce can of Red Bull has 168 calories & 37 grams, which is 9 teaspoons of added sugar!

Rockstar has 260 calories and 64 grams, do you know that’s nearly 16 teaspoons of added sugar!

You’ll be a Rockstar alright, but instead of smashing up a guitar, you’ll be smashing up your brain, until it’s mush.

THAT’S IT!

I’ve enjoyed sharing that with you, let me know what you think.

Until next time, ciao 🙂
