Sugar cravings has been very common in society for a very long time now, especially with women. Now men do have sugar cravings too but it’s less.
In general they will overeat on all kinds of meats, fast food and other salty trash. Fact is, they just don’t eat as much sweets as women do.. I’m sorry ladies you’ve got the sweeter tooth!
I’ve seen a lot of women being drawn to sweets as a comfort or to reduce stress.. whereas men are more content with protein and fatty foods. Neither is good and if this sounds like you then please (Click Here) &(Click Here) as both Women and men eating under stress don’t eat well at all.
Sugar cravings makes you a slave to it and keeps you in a vicious cycle and it needs to be broken because being stuck there is anything but sweet. You know sugary foods and soft drinks are really absorbed fast into your bloodstream, which causes your blood sugar levels to spike up and then crash down, leaving you wanting more sugar!
You can break out and make the craving tap out, by investing in wealthy foods that will put an end to your sugar cravings.
Here are 8 foods that can help you fight your sugar cravings.
Vegetables
I can hear some of the groans already, so I thought I’d get this one out of the way first! If you’re sugar craving, Vegetables to you is your enemy, so if you can do this one the rest will be a breeze.. Ok let’s go!
For this to work you need to regularly include vegetables to your meals. The reason is Vegetables are high in fibre and low in calories; they also contain lots of great nutrients.
Eating more Vegetables is one of the best things you can do for your health of course and can lower your risk of diseases like Cancer & Heart disease.
Lastly adding Vegetables is great way to bulk up any of your meals, helping you to feel fuller throughout the day.
Fruit
When most people feel sugar cravings coming on they almost always tend to go for the high-sugar, high-fat trash like chocolate… No, No No! Instead leave that for the bin and have yourself some fruit any time you feel your cravings coming on.. this will stop the it in its tracks.
Yes fruit is naturally sweet but it’s got no added sugar to it, there’s the difference the “Added” part is what’s killing you from the inside not the natural sugar on the most part.. Unless you’re eating Sugar cane which is a no lol.
Fruit has a lot of fibre too and many health benefits and again should be eaten regularly to help with your sugar cravings. So the next time you feel the cravings coming on try eating Grapes, Mangos, Pineapples, Bananas, Apples & Watermelons.
If you’re really feeling hungry then add some Greek /Plain yogurt to your fruit, this is also a cool snack.
Legumes
Legumes such as beans, chickpeas and lentils are great plant-based sources of protein and fibre. Both of these nutrients are great for making you feel fuller for longer. So Legumes reduce hunger-driven sugar cravings.
Lentils really help with weight loss too so you can start with these.
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are a very good source of many great nutrients such as Omega-3 fatty acids and fibre.. The fibre in Chia seeds is all soluble and accounts for 40% of Chia seeds.
Chia seeds are very versatile, you can add them to almost anything such as Fish, Vegetables, Bread or even any topping with your main meals.
Prunes
Prunes are just dried plums but I wanted to give them an extra shout out as I believe it’s the first time I’ve ever spoken about them (I could be wrong)
They’re jam-packed with fibre and nutrients and taste very sweet indeed.
This means you can reach for them as a healthy alternative to sweets and chocolate when you are craving sugar.
Prunes help with constipation and is absorbed in your gut very well, as it breaks down the sugar inside slowly which means no sugar crashes.
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes are very nutritious and sweet and also very filling. They contain mostly carbs but also fibre and a number of vitamins and minerals such as.. Vitamin A, Vitamin C & Potassium.
Some people get sugar cravings because they don’t eat enough during the day, so including a magical carb source such as Sweet Potatoes in your meals can combat this by adding calories to your meals, whilst all the while providing you the sweet taste that you want so much but in a healthy way.
Fish
Fish is great source to include to your meals and helps prevent your sugar cravings.
This also great for losing weight, if you are worried about mercury or pregnant then (Click Here) It’s really an anti-craving for two reasons, the first is it makes the body more sensitive to the hormone called Leptin.
Leptin has been shown to promote development of gray matter in the part of the brain that regulates food cravings and consequently results in less sugar cravings.
Secondly Fish is a rich source of Glutamine which is an a-Amino acid that provides energy to the brain and helps build and maintains muscle mass for us. It’s believed to help reduce cravings for sugar and also crabs.
This is likely because of Glutamine’s stabilizing effect on blood sugar levels; when the levels are low, Glutamine suppresses insulin to prevent further decline of the sugar levels. Glutamine also stimulates and releases of Glycogen to help increase the blood sugar to normal level.
Fermented Foods
When I say Fermented foods I’m talking foods such as Yogurt, Sauerkraut, Miso & Kimchi . If you’ve never had these foods other than yogurt then I recommend you try them as they’re not only delicious, they have many beneficial bacteria’s, which is great for our tummies.
With a healthy tummy from the inside, over time this will of course put your sugar cravings into submission for good, which is the aim of this whole article, for you to be able to eventually break out of the vicious cycle.
THAT’S IT!
I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys. Please do let me know though…
