The 5 Diabetic Health Snacks You Must Eat Right Away

It can be very tough for people who have just been told they’ve got Diabetes to then go out and purchase healthy snacks.

As any type-2 Diabetic would tell you, if they had known that before then they wouldn’t find themselves with the condition in the first place!

Bear in mind though, yes this is for every single Di1 that is a Diabetic and is struggling to make the right decisions at snack time… although even if you’re not Diabetic this will greatly benefit you if you’re eating poorly, as this disease is rising by the day.

This will prevent anyone of you Di1’s from getting Diabetes (Type-2) & get you off the medication… once again (Type-2)   via this article.

Also a reminder that Type-1 Diabetes if diagnosed cannot be gotten rid of, but that doesn’t mean that you’ve got to be eating poorly.

In fact it’s doubly important to start taking proper care of yourself, as other health complications can occur and be a hell of a lot worse for you because you’re a Type-1.

So I’d like to share with you 5 great snacks that every Diabetic must start eating right away.

Avocado

This is a very healthy snack to be eating, period. It’s just if you have Diabetes this will help manage your blood sugar levels.

Avocado has a lot of high fibre in it and also monounsaturated fatty acid (Good fat) which makes them very diabetic friendly to eat indeed.

The best part about Avocados is that you can eat this completely on its own, or of course you can make some guacamole out of it.

Avocados are helpful with your weightloss goals so, to find out more (Click Here)

Turkey Sandwich

I find it quite wasteful that we tend to only eat Turkey around Christmas time. When you can get some real Turkey (Store-Cooked) slice it up and then put it on some whole grain bread.. if you want even healthier bread than that then (Click Here)

Add some lettuce or some other greens and you’re set really. Tomatoes too, work well with Turkey, all the while giving you more nutrients to your snack.

Don’t buy pre-packaged or processed Turkey or any meats for that matter! It’s very high in salt as that’s what it’s preserved in… like I said before opt for store-cooked.

Trail Mix

Trail mix… what is that? Trail mix is a combination of nuts, dried fruit and seeds.

Just 1 ounce which is 28 grams serving of trail mix will give you 3 to 4 grams of protein, plus it’s high in fibre which keeps you feeling fuller for longer.

This also  helps you control your blood sugar levels.

Fibre has also been shown to help reduce blood sugar and insulin levels.

Diabetics both type-1&2 should not eat the dried fruit in the trail mix, because it’s quite high in sugar and will spike your blood sugar if you eat too much of it.

Also I’ve seen chocolate in some trail mixes which is no good for us so needless to say, do not buy those.

Almond Nuts

Almonds are very nutritious and are great to eat if you’re diabetic (Click Here)  Once again a 1-ounce serving (28-gram) of Almonds will give you plenty of vitamins and minerals.

Almonds help control sugar in people with diabetes and also decrease levels of insulin.

The reason almonds help stabilize blood sugar is because of the combination of Protein, Fibre and healthy fats they have in them.. which helps you manage diabetes better.

Almonds   are a great benefit also to heart health because they reduce cholesterol levels and help you manage your weight, both of which are major factors in preventing and treating type- 2 diabetes.

It would be wise to only take a handful of them though because they are high in calories,  remember that it’s a snack not a full meal!

Yogurt W Sprinkled Fruits

Diabetic people in my experience are better off opting for Greek yogurt as most other yogurts have high levels of sugar in them, and food manufacturers cannot be trusted to tell the truth when it comes to them adding “added excrement”, which you might know as sugar.

What will make this Yogurt even better is to sprinkle some fruit on it. It can be Raisins, Cranberries, Berries etc.  Let’s take Raisins for example, they actually lower your blood pressure and of lower blood sugar levels, which is great if you’re Diabetic.

Another Example; Yogurt with berries is also another great choice for diabetic people for the following..

Antioxidants in berries reduce inflammation and stop damage to the cells of the pancreas, which is the organ  that releases hormones that lower blood sugar levels.

Berries are also a great source of fibre, just one cup which is 146 to 148 gram serving of Blue berries (Click Here)  provides 4 grams of fibre.. which helps slow down your digestion and helps stabilize your blood sugar levels after your done eating.

Yogurt in general is known for being able to lower blood sugar levels (Providing no added sugar)  The reason for this is the probiotics it contains, which improves your body’s ability to metabolize foods that contain sugar.

Lastly Yogurt is rich in protein, which is well known for keeping blood sugar levels under control.

THAT’S IT!

I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys.  Please do let me know though…

My advise would be make sure you eat in the mornings; as you more than likely will collapse during the day if you don’t.

What I would say to anyone that has type 2 that could end up with type 1 is the following.. You cannot push type 1 diabetes aside and pretend like everything is ok, you must control your eating habits.

I would advise anyone that has diabetes to not let it beat you, it can be depressing when you’re first diagnosed
but over time you can get rid of it.

Just follow the tips and of course ask for help; it’s what I did I’m flying now and as of last year free of diabetes thanks to Karim 🙂

Despite the stigma from haters I’m actually glad I got it now as it has forced me to be healthy. I want to get rid of it of course but this was the wake up call I needed, now I eat healthy and I do badminton and squash every week.

I’ve lost 3 stones on your meal plan, I’m sleeping 8 hours a day and I’m actually happy with life. My advise would be it’s never to late for anyone who has got type-2.

As a former type 2 diabetic my advise is simple.. Start now doing all the things that are healthy for you, because I’ve seen the outcome of people who end up having this for years, the medication goes up all these pills are not good for you.
