It can be very tough for people who have just been told they’ve got Diabetes to then go out and purchase healthy snacks.
As any type-2 Diabetic would tell you, if they had known that before then they wouldn’t find themselves with the condition in the first place!
Bear in mind though, yes this is for every single Di1 that is a Diabetic and is struggling to make the right decisions at snack time… although even if you’re not Diabetic this will greatly benefit you if you’re eating poorly, as this disease is rising by the day.
This will prevent anyone of you Di1’s from getting Diabetes (Type-2) & get you off the medication… once again (Type-2) via this article.
Also a reminder that Type-1 Diabetes if diagnosed cannot be gotten rid of, but that doesn’t mean that you’ve got to be eating poorly.
In fact it’s doubly important to start taking proper care of yourself, as other health complications can occur and be a hell of a lot worse for you because you’re a Type-1.
So I’d like to share with you 5 great snacks that every Diabetic must start eating right away.
Avocado
This is a very healthy snack to be eating, period. It’s just if you have Diabetes this will help manage your blood sugar levels.
Avocado has a lot of high fibre in it and also monounsaturated fatty acid (Good fat) which makes them very diabetic friendly to eat indeed.
The best part about Avocados is that you can eat this completely on its own, or of course you can make some guacamole out of it.
Avocados are helpful with your weightloss goals so, to find out more (Click Here)
Turkey Sandwich
I find it quite wasteful that we tend to only eat Turkey around Christmas time. When you can get some real Turkey (Store-Cooked) slice it up and then put it on some whole grain bread.. if you want even healthier bread than that then (Click Here)
Add some lettuce or some other greens and you’re set really. Tomatoes too, work well with Turkey, all the while giving you more nutrients to your snack.
Don’t buy pre-packaged or processed Turkey or any meats for that matter! It’s very high in salt as that’s what it’s preserved in… like I said before opt for store-cooked.
Trail Mix
Trail mix… what is that? Trail mix is a combination of nuts, dried fruit and seeds.
Just 1 ounce which is 28 grams serving of trail mix will give you 3 to 4 grams of protein, plus it’s high in fibre which keeps you feeling fuller for longer.
This also helps you control your blood sugar levels.
Fibre has also been shown to help reduce blood sugar and insulin levels.
Diabetics both type-1&2 should not eat the dried fruit in the trail mix, because it’s quite high in sugar and will spike your blood sugar if you eat too much of it.
Also I’ve seen chocolate in some trail mixes which is no good for us so needless to say, do not buy those.
Almond Nuts
Almonds are very nutritious and are great to eat if you’re diabetic (Click Here) Once again a 1-ounce serving (28-gram) of Almonds will give you plenty of vitamins and minerals.
Almonds help control sugar in people with diabetes and also decrease levels of insulin.
The reason almonds help stabilize blood sugar is because of the combination of Protein, Fibre and healthy fats they have in them.. which helps you manage diabetes better.
Almonds are a great benefit also to heart health because they reduce cholesterol levels and help you manage your weight, both of which are major factors in preventing and treating type- 2 diabetes.
It would be wise to only take a handful of them though because they are high in calories, remember that it’s a snack not a full meal!
Yogurt W Sprinkled Fruits
Diabetic people in my experience are better off opting for Greek yogurt as most other yogurts have high levels of sugar in them, and food manufacturers cannot be trusted to tell the truth when it comes to them adding “added excrement”, which you might know as sugar.
What will make this Yogurt even better is to sprinkle some fruit on it. It can be Raisins, Cranberries, Berries etc. Let’s take Raisins for example, they actually lower your blood pressure and of lower blood sugar levels, which is great if you’re Diabetic.
Another Example; Yogurt with berries is also another great choice for diabetic people for the following..
Antioxidants in berries reduce inflammation and stop damage to the cells of the pancreas, which is the organ that releases hormones that lower blood sugar levels.
Berries are also a great source of fibre, just one cup which is 146 to 148 gram serving of Blue berries (Click Here) provides 4 grams of fibre.. which helps slow down your digestion and helps stabilize your blood sugar levels after your done eating.
Yogurt in general is known for being able to lower blood sugar levels (Providing no added sugar) The reason for this is the probiotics it contains, which improves your body’s ability to metabolize foods that contain sugar.
Lastly Yogurt is rich in protein, which is well known for keeping blood sugar levels under control.
THAT’S IT!
I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys. Please do let me know though…

Thanks I’ve been researching about this and finally found a great source. I turned type-2 last month so I need all the help I can get 🙂
Ah that’s good then perfect timing! All the best with your Type-2, it can be reversed if you work for it 🙏🏿
I never understood that either why people don’t eat Turkey all year round.
🤷🏿♂️
It’s not tradition I suppose.
Maybe.
Thanks for all your help.
You’re Welcome Billy 🙂
No more sweets for me 😋
Curtis It True Then 🙏🏿
I struggle with eating consistently when I’m at work.
Start preparing the night before and putting your meals in tubs. That’s lunch and snacks too.. also bottles of water, buying a take out right now with you consistency will be just on/off and wont improve anything.. get the consistency first and when it becomes automatic, and you get the eye for purchasing healthy food then you can pull back from bringing in food in tubs if you wish. But if you’re not serious then don’t even start as it takes commitment to do this, and you need ask yourself “Why am I doing this?”
With that being said I thank you for letting us know and hope you make the right decision that is best for you and your health 🙂
Exactly what I needed to read 🤗🤗🤗
I’m happy to know that Lesley 🙂
My advise would be make sure you eat in the mornings; as you more than likely will collapse during the day if you don’t.
I hate being type two I’ll do whatever it takes to get rid of it.
I’m sorry to hear that Ian.. I love the fight in you,I know you can do this I believe in you!

After the shock and some tears I did my research and found this! There is light at the end of the tunnel and I’m going to defeat this.
👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿 I love this comment! I know that if you always remind yourself of the light plus the light within you which is the brightest one of all.. you’ll defeat Diabetes.Until then thank you for this comment, and I wish you all the best in your quest 🙏🏿
What I would say to anyone that has type 2 that could end up with type 1 is the following.. You cannot push type 1 diabetes aside and pretend like everything is ok, you must control your eating habits.
💯 Amen 🙏🏿
That’s very true Mustafa.
I hate taking blood from my finger as I’m afraid of blood.
Oh damn that must suck Denis.. I don’t like the thought of that, well hopefully for you it want be for ever 🙂

I’ve decided even if I remain with Diabetes I’m still going to be as healthy as I can, that’s my main take-away.
I’m glad you get it Tyrus.. thank you for this 😀👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I would advise anyone that has diabetes to not let it beat you, it can be depressing when you’re first diagnosed
but over time you can get rid of it.
Just follow the tips and of course ask for help; it’s what I did I’m flying now and as of last year free of diabetes thanks to Karim 🙂
Yessssss Nyeshaaaaaaaaaa Factssssss 👊🏿💯 Thank you so much for that. Anyone reading this if there is anything you don’t get or want further explaining just comment or contact me directly on social.. I Love all the Di1’s always 🙏🏿
Despite the stigma from haters I’m actually glad I got it now as it has forced me to be healthy. I want to get rid of it of course but this was the wake up call I needed, now I eat healthy and I do badminton and squash every week.
I’ve lost 3 stones on your meal plan, I’m sleeping 8 hours a day and I’m actually happy with life. My advise would be it’s never to late for anyone who has got type-2.
Well said Melissa! I’m really happy that you did that on my meal plan 🙂 The sleep advice also I’m really happy for you, I’d love to see your progress could you contact the team and send before and after shots? Thank you for sharing this with us I’m so happy for you 🙏🏿

Then we’ve all been blessed.. Jaya I want to hear the great news of you getting rid of Type-2, I’ll be hearing from you then🙏🏿
Great article dude! Eating properly is the main struggle, but that’s why I’m here now.
Ah that’s alright, yeah you right.. By the end of the year you’ll see the change 😉
Can diabetes come because of stress ?
Only if stress makes you eat poorly and unwisely.. not on it’s own you know, but thank you for the question 🙂
Thanks for the tips Karim. I’ve got lots of berries in my garden, so I’ll be making sure I actually eat them often.
You’re welcome make sure you do 🙂
Thanks for the reminder. I’ve been slacking off recently and need to get back to healthy eating.
You’re Welcome Scarlett.. I’m happy this has got you motivated once again, start attacking this ASAP!
I enjoyed this and now eating your suggestions. I’m not diabetic but it’s better than just eating junk food all the time.

I don’t struggle at all I just make sure that I stay active and eat as best I can.
I’m really happy to know that Rosa GO YOU!
My advice would be to get well informed on all you can because as you know Karim people think that it cannot be reversed and it’s not true.
Straight uppppppp! It’s true that’s one of my reasons for creating this article for y’all
I felt this one a lot great article 💜
I’m glad you felt this Amelie, thank you so much for letting me know much love 🙂
As a former type 2 diabetic my advise is simple.. Start now doing all the things that are healthy for you, because I’ve seen the outcome of people who end up having this for years, the medication goes up all these pills are not good for you.
Great advice Heidi 🙌🏿 Thank you so much for that!
Love this great tips!
Thanks Erin 🙂
I need to watch myself this was great warning for me.
I’m glad this awoken you Simeone 🙂
I hate taking the medication it’s a drag😓
Ok thank you for your honesty.. Chin up it’s time to work on the reversal 🙏🏿
Well said brother.
Thanks bro 🙂
I’m taking these tips and I’m going to get healthy!
Straight upppppppp!🙏🏿
I went on a spending spree for my health since reading this, and I’ve given up eating cake until I get rid of my type-2 🙂
That’s great Chris.. Nah you wont be able to look at cake in the same way, I’m not a betting man but I know you’ll hit me up in the future and tell me oh yeahhhhh!🤣🤣🤣
I struggle with keeping up to date with when I’ve taken my injection and when I’ve not.
Start logging it in a dairy or your phone, with the date and time you took it.. If you’ve been doing it blindly all this time then you must of been feeling weak and collapsing a lot, that’s no way to live Ryan. Even when you’re taking blood make a note of it.. I know that helps 😉
I’ve started walking now everyday and when I go on long distant walks I have my trail mix.
Right onnnnnnnnn Emma 🙂
Top advice! thank you 🤗
I’m happy you think so.. You’re welcome Jo
🐐
Thank you.. You a Di1 for sureeee 🙏🏿
