Milk: Debunking The Myths

Many of you reading this do not drink Milk and for good reason. You’ve been told many tales that Milk is not what it seems and you should drink substitutes of Milk instead (Click Here).

So this is really about debunking the myths that surround Milk and to get you Di1’s drinking Milk once again… Of course if you’re lactose intolerant you cannot, but you can also share this with a family member or a friend! Β

Here are three of those myths that come up the most…

Milk Provides No Health Benefits

Really now? Β I refuse to believe any Di1 would believe this to be true! So if you do you must be new around here.. Hello and let me put you straight.

Just one cup of Milk provides 9 essential nutrients including Protein, Phosphorus and Calcium along with Vitamins A, D, B12, Riboflavin, Niacin & Pantothenic acid. The western dietary guidelines when looked at, say that people from the west do not consume enough Vitamin nutrients into their bodies.

Many children who drank up to three glasses of milk per day have been shown to have higher quality health than those children that did not and opted for the fizzy drinks or juices.

Consuming milk and dairy has been known to help with your bone health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, High blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes (Click Here) .

Milk Has Too Much Sugar

There seems to be a confusion between natural Sugar and table Sugar (AKA added sugar). Natural Sugar is found in real food such as fruit and milk which in fact has a ton of healthy nutrients that our body needs to be healthy and optimal.

Whereas added Sugar is added to food in order to try and enhance the flavour. When you decide to start adding sugar, it starts to mess up Β the important nutrients that your body needs. So think Fizzy drinks, Cakes, Biscuits, Candy and other such trash.

This is the Sugar you should be getting worked up about and getting rid of from your daily consumption of eating and drinking, Β not the natural Sugar.

Chocolate Milk Is Not Healthy

If Chocolate was single, I’d agree with you but you put it in a relationship with Milk and it’s Β a healthy combo! The reason for this is the Chocolate Milk still provides the same nine essential nutrients found in the ordinary white milk.

The only difference is the addition of the Chocolate of course which then increases the carbohydrate content in the form (It’s now sweeter than white Milk) and hence, the calorie content will be higher too.

This does not mean Chocolate milk is bad for you, It’s a healthy addition to anyone’s body, but of course do not think you can just keep drinking it like some of you drink your Teas and Coffees.. Too much Chocolate Milk is no good for anyone, no more than 3 glasses per day.

If you have a child and you’re still Β worried or hesitant about giving it to them but your child is still drinking Fizzy drinks (Click Here)Β  and Juices (Click Here) and God forbid Alcohol.. I’d refocus my priories on that. Something that could actually save your child’s life, rather than eliminating something that could preserve it.

Lastly, Chocolate Milk has been shown to be very effective for recovery for Athletes who take part In intense exercises or partake in particular sports. It provides a blend of carbohydrate and protein and this really helps with the repair and recovery of their muscles.

THAT’S IT!

I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys.Β  Please do let me know though…
