7 Foods That May Lower Your Chances Of Getting Cancer

What you eat matters and has a drastic effect on your health, for example your risk of getting chronic diseases goes up if you are eating poorly, and as for which chronic diseases.. Heart disease, Diabetes and Cancer to name a few.

When you look at all of the chronic diseases that I just mentioned, Cancer in particular is very much influenced by our choices of food and drink.

Of course many foods can help us  become healthy and keep our bodies in good condition, but also decrease our chances of getting Cancer.

So now it’s time to get into the 7 foods that may lower your chances of getting Cancer.

Berries

Berries have many health benefits (Click Here) they are also very high in Anthocyanins which are plant pigments that have antioxidant properties and have been known to reduce the risk of Cancer.

Many people then ask the question of “How much should I eat?” Well if you include two servings of Berries in your consumption each day, this would be a great start and will increase your chances of being Cancer free.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon has a host of well known benefits, it prevents inflammation and also reduces blood sugar. Also I was reading an animal study earlier this year and they found in this study that Cinnamon may help block the spread of cancer cells.

Another study found that Cinnamon extract was able to stop the spreading of Cancer cells and stop the deaths of the animals.  So including ½ – 1 teaspoon which is (2-4 grams) of Cinnamon per day may be quite beneficial in Cancer prevention, and as I said above, comes with the other benefits too.

More studies and testing will have to be done to know for sure if Cinnamon’s cancer retarding properties are as effective in stopping cancer cells from spreading in humans, but I’m confident that Cinnamon will have the same impact when tested, as with the animals.

Nuts

If you’re not allergic to nuts then you really need to be eating them ASAP! (Click Here)

Eating nuts has been shown to lower the risk of certain types of  Cancer, for instance eating a greater amount of nuts over a period of a lifetime has been shown to decrease the risk of dying from cancer.

I did some digging and read a study that  looked at 35,809 people for up to 50 years and found that eating nuts regularly decreased the risk of Pancreatic and endometrial (The Womb) cancer.

Brazil nuts are very high in selenium, which helps protect us against lung Cancer.

If you’re wondering how to include this into your eating (Click Here)

Olive Oil

Olive oil is well known to have plenty of health benefits, and of course is very popular especially in the Mediterranean diet.

Consuming Olive oil  also lowers the risk of Breast Cancer and the Cancers of the digestive system like Bowel Cancer.

Switching to Olive oil /Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the best thing you could do for yourself as many of the other oils are unhealthy.. that includes Vegetable oil! Which has no vegetable in it (Click Here)

You can drizzle it over salads and your cooked food.. you into meat, fish or poultry? Well that too.

Flax seeds

Flax seeds are high in fibre and as well as being great for your heart health, Flax seeds help decrease Cancer growth and help kill of the Cancer cells.

Some people that have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer were treated with Flax seeds, which of course have been found to reduce the growth and spread of Cancer cells.

Flax seeds have also been found to be protective against Bowel Cancer.

What I would suggest is adding one  tablespoon which is (10 grams) of ground Flax seeds per day to start off  by mixing it into Cereal , Oats & Yogurt.

Tomatoes

Lycopene is a compound found in Tomato that is the reason for it’s unmissable Red colour. Increasing your Tomato intake leads to reduced risk of Prostate Cancer because of the Lycopene.

Just two Tomatoes each day added to Salads, Sandwiches or pasta dishes will put you on the right path to reduce your chances of Cancer.

Carrots

Carrots have been heavily linked to the decrease of the risk of certain types of Cancer.

In fact eating Carrots regularly reduces the risk of stomach Cancer by up to 26%, plus the chance of developing Prostate Cancer by 18% (That’s on its own) So of course we eat much more than just that on a plate.

They too also help with Lung Cancer. Smokers who don’t eat Carrots are three times more likely to develop Lung Cancer, compared to  those who smoke but eat Carrots more than once per week.

Please include Carrots into your meals, eat it as a healthy snack or side dish.. You can start with a few times  per week, and then increase it over time.. this will reduce your risk of Cancer.

THAT’S IT!

I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys.  Please do let me know though…

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago now; and what she did was she started eating how they do in the Mediterranean, she got rid of all the processed foods and she was given the all clear after two years of suffering. She has stuck to her healthy eating and she said she believes the olive oil and olives helped a lot.

Cancer has taken so many of my family members away from me, I’ve never had the chance to ask if any of these food had an impact or what they ate because they are of course dead; but it did get me thinking.
