10 Food & Drinks With More Sugar In Them Than You Thought

Β

Β

Spaghetti Sauce

Trust me when I tell you that I’ve had many Spaghetti sauces in my time.

One thing is certain about Spaghetti sauce, they tend to make it sweeter on the sly.. even though you would not really notice unless you looked at the back of the label.

I mean all Spaghetti sauces will contain some natural sugar that’s a given because of the Tomatoes & there is nothing wrong with that.

However Spaghetti sauces you buy from the shop tend to have added sugar in it which is trash, so the best way to ensure you stop getting the unwanted sugar in your Spaghetti is to make your own!

Taking ownership is not just a real estates/business move.. It’s a wise and smart health move to make as you know exactly what is in your food.

Β

I’m not saying do not buy premade Spaghetti sauce, if you do not want to make it yourself that’s fine too.. just check the label for the sugar content and make sure it is low is all.

BBQ Sauce & Ketchup

I’m going to start with BBQ sauce, now we can use this as a dip or just put on to almost anything to make the food taste better.

However, 28 grams which is 2 tablespoons btw of sauce can contain between 7 to 9 grams of sugar.

9 grams is over 2 teaspoons worth too. Now you may not be aware of this but between 30 to 33 percent of BBQ sauce is made up of pure sugar, so if you did not know that
you may have been adding unwanted sugar without knowing it.

I believe that if you’re going to go for a BBQ sauce make sure the sugar content is low and just don’t go ham with it because you now know that it contains a lot of sugar in it then you firstΒ  thought.

Ketchup is the most popular add-on sauce in the world but this too is loaded with sugar!

So I don’t have much to add that I’ve not said about BBQ sauce.. make sure you don’t go ham on the sauce & a single tablespoon of Ketchup has
almost a teaspoon of sugar in it.

Sports Drinks

It’s sad to see how this is even thought of as a healthy choice for those who workout.

This is nothing short of a disgrace and a big con, even more stupid that many pro athletes are advised to drink this.. but let’s not get into that.

Β

Sports drinks are supposed to hydrate and fuel trained athletes during prolonged and intense periods of exercise, so think Marathon runners & Cyclists.

So this is why it containsΒ  a very high amount of added sugar that can be quickly absorbed and used for energy.

Β

They tend to have 9.3 to 9.5 teaspoons of sugar in them, Sports drinks are therefore a sugary drink, just like your fizzy drinks and fruit juices.

What you may not know is Sports drinks are very much linked to obesity as anyone can buy them, so those that do not workout at all drink them, get addicted to the sugar..

Then they keep drinking and then the belly pops out.

So for this reason I don’t think you should be drinking this at all!Β

I mean let’s get straight to it.. it’s just orange juice with somebody putting loads of added sugar in it and telling you it’s going to give you energy… YOU THINK!?

What they’re not telling you is that your sugar levels will go on a high but then go down rapidly and your form will drop if you’re doing some form of workout that is.

The last time I checkedΒ  Marathon runners take a lot of Water over Sports drinks for that very reason whilst the run is going on, I tend to see Tennis players drinking more of this crap.

Β

What tends to happen over time ? a massive dip in form, wheneverΒ  Tennis is back on again keep a close eye out for it .

I would recommend that youΒ  drink Water instead.. nothing better than Water to insure that you’re hydrated!

Chocolate Milk

Chocolate Milk is just milk that has been flavored with Coco and sweetened with sugar.

Milk itself is very healthy even though I know it has been given a bad rap, It’s a rich source of nutrients Calcium & Protein which is needed to keep our bones healthy and strong.

Chocolate milk is also great after a workout as it aids your recovery, rather than taking dodgy powders with God knows what in it.. that is unhealthy for you.

It’s also makes yourΒ  heart healthy but, despite having these qualities Chocolate Milk tends to have 2.9 teaspoons in them.

So what I would suggest you do is read the labels and look for Chocolate Milks that are low in sugar, most of the well-known brands of Chocolate milks are too high in sugar you can taste it!

Still though it can be done and you can enjoy your Chocolate milk with next to nothing or any added sugar at all, it tastes greatΒ  anyway plus you’llΒ  get all the healthy things that come with it.. read the labels guy’s/girls.

Granola

It’s a new decade y’all, does anyone really still think Granola is healthy?

It’s always marketed as being “low fat” healthy food, but is high in sugar and has a high amount of calories.

Them bars is what I’m talking about pure trash!

Granola has Oats, Nuts, Honey & added sweeteners in it.. which is the reason for the high amount of sugar and calories.

How many calories is in Granola? 400 to 500 calories and how many teaspoons? 5 to 7 teaspoons of sugar.

If you want to eat Granola make your own or look for one that is really low in sugar & Calories.. to be honest with you I’ve never seen one yet!

So I would make my own without the sugar.. you can then add it as a topping to your Fruit or Yoghurt, or you could just pour it in a bowl
& eat it on it’s own.. The choice is yours.

Ice Tea

Ice Ice Teaaaaaaaa

This is normally sweetened with flavored syrup and sugar.

Not all ice teas are made in the same way, so the sugar content in themΒ  vary depending on what country you’re in.. but not by much.

Most ice teas will have 33 to 34 grams of sugar in them, that’s the same amount as a bottle of freaking Coke! Let that sink in…

For me the other choices of Ice tea with low amounts of sugar in them are lacking & do not taste that great, but hey you might like the taste of them.Β

Protein Bars

Protein bars are used for snacks and of course are very popular.

They can leave you feeling fuller and aid to your weight loss, so you would think that they’re a healthy snack choice right?

Wrong!

They’re not healthy at all and contain around 20 grams of added sugar, making them nearly on par with candy bars LMAO!!!

So I’m not saying no more than that.. Candy bar really?Β

Less of thatttttttttt!

Cereal Bars Β

No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No NO.

This is popular for those that have a mindset of “I’ve got no time for breakfast” / “I’ll eat on the go”

Or the third one which is I’m just too lazy so I’ll eat this cereal bar.

The breakfast companies know what They are doing they try to market this as healthy, when the damn thing is coated with sugar, and again because it’s in a bar..

you would tend to eat this daily and more of it, until you get addicted to the sugary taste.

These bars contain high amounts of added sugar, 12 grams in them or 3 teaspoons of sugar in the morning.. come on now less of thattttttt.

If you’re looking for me to say “Just look for a bar with less sugar and you’ll be ok”Β  then you’ve come to the wrong place, this is a big no no, & anyone who thinks that’s cool..

To eat in the morning is a joker and a fool.. It’s that deep.

Some advice too how about getting up earlier than what you do so you do not have to rush, and eat either a healthy bowl of cereal or cook up some eggs or something..

& enjoy your meal in peace.. rather than this Rush hour/ John Wick flicks a lot of you are doing and messing up your health.Β

Canned Fruit

All fruits have natural sugar in them, there is nothing wrong with that.

What you need to know about canned fruit isΒ  that it tends to have sugary syrup in the can.

Now this really takes away the healthy side of the fruit like fiber, and makes this a not so healthy snack to have.

So for me just eat your fruits whole, so you’ll have to do some cutting if you want them in pieces.. So what.

That’s light work right there.

Smoothies

Not all smoothies are healthy for you.

First of all I hope none of you are on this train where you only drink this instead of having food, that’s a big no no and it will bite you in the arse over time.

Many Smoothies you can buy are sweetened because you’re adding crap like Fruit juice, Ice cream and Syrup into it.. how do you expect this to be healthy ?

All this is doing is increasing the sugar higher and higher and killing your goals toΒ  lose weight/ be healthy.

You’ll find about 50 to 54 grams which is like 13 to 13.5Β  teaspoons of sugar in a single serving.

I would also like to add that even if you make this yourself with no added sugar and less fruits you’re still not getting the full health benefits.Β

As when you blend the fruits in the blender it strips away the nutrients giving you less nutrients.

Eat it whole all day when it comes to fruit.

Β

THAT’S IT!

Β

I really enjoyed sharing this with you guys. Please do let me know, though…
